Here is one of our commoner lizards, the bluetongue Tiliqua scincoides. Joanne Hill, education project officer for the Catchment Management Authority, has just removed a large tick from its neck. And below is its relative the oak skink, Tiliqua casuarinae.

Another skink, the pink tongue, Cyclodomorphus gerrardii, discovered in November 2019 by the contractors Bangalow Bushland while weeding honeysuckle in sclerophyll enclosure S6, Water Gum Corner.

Some more finds - blind snakes (Ramphotyphlops nigrescens), found under a piece of corrugated iron in June 2011. They are about 25 cm long, live on ants and termites and avoid the sun. Our contracted Bush Regeneration team report finding them fairly often under logs. Despite their name, their eyes are functional, but half-concealed under scales that protect them from ants
