Much needed meeting with Nils (the Project Manager Borough & Bankside that will deliver the Cleener, Greener, Safer Award on behalf of Southwark Council) and Ben (Urban Ecology Manager for the The Conservation Volunteers) the overall contractor that will be delivering the work on the ground.
it was not only an occasion to meet the contractor manager but also to sort out what we wanted and what it would be possible to get. Julian as alwasy was there tons of time before and whiled awasy the time by doing a little maintenance on the Wild Hedge.
The WildLife Area itself look its best in this glorious day of summer.
As usual many things were to be clarified (and will be asked again and again for much of the project) and modified.
Generally though the gist of the project upon which the award was granted were reiterated. this is alwasys a very important point as any new participant has usually a sketchy ideas of what it is want to deliver but a firm understanding of what it can be delivered.
There were some misunderstandings that needed to be cleared and some attitude toward a business, matter of fact, way of problem solving was soon established.
The meeting established contacts and parameters but further contacts will be certainly needed and continued all along the process to provide all that can be reasonably achieved. As usually it will be a tough going but eventually all be turning out to be worth while.
Our beloved oak was Lookin gorgeous but still young and fragile and the importance for the site was appreciated by all.
Julian was also worried about some possible dumping in the cul-de-sac at the end of Albridge Street and proper concerns communicated to the Park administration. Still be there and enjoying the bountiful flowers offering of our little speck of countryside made it somehow seem all the problems light.
