Chapter 7 Comments

Chapter Seven Comments

-Some of the fighting moves Fei Long performed in the 'movie scene' were taken from various Bruce Lee films.

-This chapter explains both Fei Long's and Johnny Cage's absence during the events of the last two stories.

-Fei Long mentioning how Johnny Cage earned a 'Blueberry Award,' a fictional version of the infamous Raspberry Award, was a nod to the Mortal Kombat X Comics.

-The movie Johnny Cage mentions trying to film with Fei Long, Dragon and the Man, is a play on the title of an old TV show, Chico and the Man.

-Most of Juli's background told in this chapter was done with creative liberty. The dove theme was based on T. Hawk's Super Street Fighter IV prologue in a flashback scene with the doves flying around them.

-Abel petting a dog in his introduction scene was a nod to his Street Fighter IV prologue.

-Crimson Viper's scene is a nod to her Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter IV endings.

-Hwoarang and Baek's first scene was based on the beginning of Hwoarang's story in Tekken 6. The present day scene was taken from Baek's Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ending.

-Back in Chapter 3, it was mentioned that Kenshi and Alex received a check from an anonymous source with a note only saying 'compensation.' In this chapter, though refusing to reveal who he sent the check to, it's clear that the source is Paul Phoenix. The reason for giving them the money after selling the gold pendant found in Ano Sentaku Bou (mentioned in that story in Chapter 53) will be explained in a future chapter. The gesture was somewhat inspired by Forest Law's ending in Tekken Tag Tournament 2.

-Initially, I had Noob Saibot joined with only the Outworld Resistance, but then I decided it would be good if the Brotherhood of Shadow were with them but also secretly with the new Outworld Forces given their ties with Quan Chi.

-Kia and Jataaka were characters from Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero and made cameos in MK Armageddon. They will serve as minor character throughout this story.

-Originally, I was going to include a flashback scene of the end of the last fight between Noob Saibot and Sub-Zero from Ano Sentaku Bou. However, I ended up not putting it in due to the length of the chapter.

-Back in Ano Sentaku Bou, I had initially paired Juli with Wagner at a time when her relationship with T. Hawk wasn't all that known except for his Alpha 3 ending (and as far as I remember, nothing about the relationship is mentioned in the Udon comics). Once their relationship was established in the canon, my plan for this story is to heavily acknowledge their past, which will be part of their story throughout.

-This chapter explains Yun-seong's absence during the events of the Universal War in Ano Sentaku Bou, which was hinted in that story.

-For a more professional feel, the name of Hwang's army was changed from Coast Guards to Coastal Forces.

-The joke involving Hwoarang is a nod to how similar he and Yun-seong are.

-Kong Xiuqiang is a minor character in the Soulcalibur universe who has come and gone throughout the lives of various characters in some form or another. I'm not 100% sure if true, but I had read somewhere that he had, at some point, joined Hwang and the Coastal Forces. Whether true or not, it's what inspired me to add him as a minor character in this story.

-Seong Mi-na, in the canon, had trained under Xiuqiang, a fact I had forgotten when writing this scene... and will resolve in a future chapter...
