Two trainees from MSAM, U Tun Yee (1977 December batch) and U Tint Wai (1987 batch), are now attending an Integrated Coastal Management (ICM) Training at Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Bangkok, Thailand. (21 Jan - 1 Mar, 2013)
Myanmar is one of the first signatory of State to the Dugong (Yae wet, Yae thuma) conservation and management MoU. Myanmar signed the MoU in 2007.
A total of 85 delegates from 26 countries (including U Tint Tun from MSAM) attended the Dugong Mou, Second Signatory of State (SS2) Meeting in Manila, Philippines.

In commemoration of the Year of Biodiversity, MSAM organized a marine research paper presentations at MiCassa Hotel in Yangon on 19 December 2010. A total of four papers from Departments of Marine Science at all three Universities presented at the ceremony.
