So much going on, so little time! Seriously, families, there is a lot going on!

September's meeting attendance: Dawn, June, Jessica, Danielle, Vicki, Lori, Kristen (+ assorted children - cute!)

Board Survey -- expect to see it in your in-boxes this week! Don't be shy about letting us know if you'd like to play a more active role in this organization. All contributions are welcomed! For instance, we may be hearing more from member, Lori Lui about outdoor outings and hikes. Personally, I can't wait!

Teen Center - a few of the MOB board members are actively working with the city in revamping the teen center (paint job, more inviting, better activities....). If anyone wants to participate in helping with the Teen Center, email Jessica Aloft (j.aloft@gmail.com), Elisa Primm (elisaprimm@gmail.com), or DeeDee Porter (deedee@deedeeporter.com)

Clothing Swap - Saturday October 13th @ Community Park Gazebo. Same day as the costume swap @ Community Center. Please drop your toys, clothes, gear, etc off beforehand so we have time to sort everything according to size and category. Contact Megan Garner with questions (megantgarner@msn.com)

Day in the Park - Saturday, October 6th @ Community Park. This is basically a small community carnival and is tons of fun. We still needs some volunteers -- please contact Angel (angelkane72@hotmail.com)

MOB Picnic - will be the same day as the playground build day. Stay tuned for new date.

Mural for Brisbane? - Lori Liu brought up the idea of the MOB spearheading or sponsoring a mural project for Brisbane. She brought the example of Exeter, CA's mural efforts. It brings that town revenue and publicity. Different groups in town sponsor various murals. She is going to contact the city about who handled the fire hydrant project to see if that group might be interested in stepping things up with a mural project. If so, it would be great if the MOB could participate in some way. Please contact her if you feel you can help. (loriliu3@yahoo.com)

Ways to help our local schools:

    • Bring used print cartridges, cell phones and scotch tape dispensers to the BES front office. They receive money for these donations AND you feel good about not adding to the landfill.

    • Download the http://www.goodsearch.com toolbar so that every time you end up at website that offers a donation to BES or Lipman, you can activate the donation.

    • Get a Target credit card, select BES or Lipman as your school of choice and use it every time you shop at Target.

    • http://www.escrip.com/ -- The most effortless way to give free money to schools ever. All you do is sign up and put in all credit cards that you use. If you happen to shop or eat at a participating store/eatery, then a percentage of your purchase automatically goes to the school you signed up with. Silverspot, BES, and Lipman all participate.

    • Save Your "Fresh & Easy" Receipts and drop to Silverspot. The school will get $1 for every $20 spent. There is a Fresh and Easy on Silver Avenue in SF (Excelsior) and 3rd Street (Bayview). Additionally, if we make $500 or more, we get a $50 bonus. We will also be signed up for a Family Shopping Night during which we get 5% t that night's total sales (with receipts). We could stand to make as much as $5,000 with this program without a single family shelling out a dime. Win-win, right? Now start collecting those receipts!

    • Collect Box Tops and drop them off to BES.

    • Save your recyclable items and drop them off at the hardware store. Did you know that Brisbane Elementary School District made $10,000 last year?! They think they could have doubled it if they had more participation and more volunteers to help sort. Email Dan and Nancy Sorentino if you think you can help dsorrentino@earthlink.net.

Lastly, our next meeting is Thursday, October 11th (second Thursdays) at NaNa's. We may be choosing a venue change that night, so come if you have an opinion! Be sure to check out our calendar at https://sites.google.com/site/mothersofbrisbane/events-and-calendar for a comprehensive list of events.

Cheers lovely Brisbane Families!
