ARTICLES

I was a contributing writer for The Ridge magazine in Durban f0r 7 years from 2007. Over 200 articles were published.

The Ridge is a glossy lifestyle magazine, aimed at LSM 9 and 10’s thanks to its geographical distribution from Durban North up to Ballito. It is published by Famous Publishing and owned by Media24. I have had the good fortune of meeting and networking with people, both famous and relatively unknown. In each issue I have covered homes and artists, and explored issues like drug abuse, charitable organisations, personalities, musicians and people in the medical field.

The Edge magazine was distributed to residences and members of the elite Mount Edgecombe Country Club near Umhlanga. They published three travel articles of mine on India, Bhutan and Spain. (www.fishnetpublishing.co.za)

In 2002, under the reign of Margaret Wasserfall at Country Life, I was fortunate to claim the column on the last page, entitled ‘Life’s Kuhle’ (pronounced ‘cool’). This twelve month commission allowed me to share my joys, misfortunes and unusual animal encounters at Milimani Game Sanctuary in Zululand, a property owned by my late husband and myself.

Whilst I was gainfully employed in my youth, I worked for advertising agencies in Johannesburg and Nairobi. I was in Media for 20 years -  buying and planning. I worked at Lintas, The Media Shop, Hunt Lascaris, Eurospace and McCann Erickson up until 1995. I then went to Kenya and started up Media Initiative East Africa where I was the CEO in Nairobi for 5 years. I came back to South Africa in 2000 to live in the ‘bush’ where we ran a 4 star lodge and animal sanctuary.

I am originally from Kenya and still have wonderful connections in that part of the world. I  live between Durban and Pongola (near Swaziland) where we farm, and generally make a nuisance of myself.
