Barb Holtz, a naturalist at Look About Lodge, shared with us about Native Plants at the Old Stone House in Lakewood Park, site of a local herb garden tended by LEAF members. Thanks to the Historical Society for use of the venue.

Karin Wishner from Greater Cleveland Beekeepers spoke about keeping bees in the urban/suburban environment. Karin has been keeping bees since 2006 and currently keeps them on an urban farm on the east side of Cleveland.

September 2009: Panel Discussion on Urban Agriculture in Lakewood
An interactive discussion on the future of urban agriculture practices in our city. Topics included rainwater harvesting, backyard hens, soil building, and permaculture. Panelists included citizen pioneers in urban agriculture practices from throughout Northeast Ohio and local government officials who've navigated the policy implications of our region's urban agriculture revival. Panelists engaged the audience in a discussion of the pros and cons of urban agricultural practices, parallel public policy, and their potential impact on life in our city.
