HOW ABOUT MAKING A SUPPLY CHAIN THAT MAKES SENSE?

(by Dr. Kaushik Sahu)

This page is under construction. My aim here is to make a virtual value chain that works. My focus is on the Indian industry. Join me if you are interested in taking this work forward. However, you will need to be persistent and hardworking to get the ultimate satisfaction. You should be a person who THINKS independently and is self-reliant. We will be trying to characterize some chains around us. Examples will be from the housing industry, steel industry, consumer durables, service sector (eg: health, financial services, equipment banks), and the computer industry. The figure below makes no sense to me. As in the real world around us there is no coordination between the key members.

As some of you perhaps know, coordination becomes extremely difficult when there is distorted information flow.

Can we do something to coordinate the physical flow? After all we want to be competitive. Don't we?

OUR ULTIMATE OBJECTIVE WOULD BE TO CHARACTERIZE THE CHAIN FROM THE SUPPLIER'S SUPPLIER TO CUSTOMER'S CUSTOMER (for the various industry):

SUPPLIER FACTORY DISTRIBUTOR RETAILER
