Pre-Trip and Driving up
Getting geared up for the Trip, packing up and getting rolling on Friday, Driving up with a few stops, making it to Grand Portage, hiking the Mt Rose Trail, eating supper and spending some time in the casino bar.

Grand Portage to Partridge Falls
Visiting the National Monument Heritage Center, visiting the historic Depot, Starting Up the Grand Portage Trail, Making it to Old Highway 61, heading across the long bridge over a beaver dam, looking for the Cascades Trail, making it to Fort Charlotte, checking out the campsite, heading across the Snow Creek Bridge and finally finding Partridge Falls after several little detours. Partridge Falls to Grand Portage, then to the BRT Trailhead
Waking up at the Partridge Falls Campsite, Eating breakfast and packing up, deciding not to cross a swollen creek, hiking to some impoundment ponds and seeing a moose, crossing the creek and finding a thickety mess, deciding to hike out Partridge Falls road, Getting back to Grand Portage via Old 61 and the National Monument Trail, Cleaning up and going to the Rengo Road end of the Old Border Route. Hiking it until it was too thickety. Meeting Jeff and Beth at the Swamp River Campsite, Eating supper at the Border Route Campsite, meeting Steve and Carolyn who were fishing, having a campfire with Jeff and Beth, letting go. Click Here

Otter Lake Road to Jackson Lake Road
A Memorial Day Tribute, Getting Shuttled By Jeff and Beth, Starting out from the Otter Lake Road Trailhead, having a wardrobe malfunction, hiking through the scrubby grasslands to the Andy Creek Campsite then Andy Creek Road, going through the mature forest hiking up Rosebush Ridge. Getting to the Highest Elevation of the trail, hiking the dicey spot and making to the overlook, hiking along the ridge above Jackson Lake, resting at the Jackson Creek Campsite, hiking a long boardwalk then the trail goes uphill to Jackson Lake Road, Driving into Grand Marais, Meeting Eric and Peter at the Grand Marais Overlook, eating supper at Sven and Ole's and doing my computer report at the Best Western, Click Here

Jackson Lake Road to the Arrowhead Trail, plus the Lakewalk
Taking the strenuous trip up to the Hellacious Overlook and taking many photos, zigging down to a creek, zagging back along the creek to find the Woodland Cariboo Campsite, heading up to another series of overlooks, heading down and up again, going down the final time and finding the V Rock, walking along a creek to the Junction of the parking lot spur trail, doing a creek walk to find the North Carlson Campsite and then the Arrowhead Trail, deciding to do the lakewalk, riding my bike down highway 61 and walking the spectacular Lakewalk back to the van, going into Grand Marais for supper at the Gunflint Tavern. Arrowhead Trail to Judge CR Magney State Park
Having a Major Malfunction and Misadventure morning, Starting out at the Arrowhead Trail, finding a wet section of the Trail, seeing the South Carlson Pond and visiting the campsite, finding Tom Lake Road, taking the detour, then setting sail down the road, taking a break at the Hazel Campsite, Continuing through the pine meadows near the Flute Reed River, making it to Camp 20 road (hwy70), completing the Roadwalk in short order, going across the Flute Reed River Bridge then walking up to Rocky Knob, hiking along the Brule River gorge, then descending to hike along the River, Seeing the Devil's Kettle Waterfall and Lower Falls, getting a ride from John and Ann, Going into Grand Marais for computer time at the Library, shower time at the Campground and Burger time at the American Legion. The Lakewalk to the Kadunce Wayside
Kadunce Wayside to Highway 14
Having an encounter at Magney, hiking out of Magney on a two-track forest road, hiking along Gauthery Creek on a regular trail, crossing private land, getting back on public land and finding three Little Brule River Campsites, having a camera card problem, making it back to Highway 61 and biking back to Magney, parking at Kadunce and riding my bike back to the west end of the lakewalk, hiking several ups and downs to Blueberry overlook, heading downhill and meeting some college students, finding the Kadunce River Campsite and the River itself, Meeting Adam and Katie at a Waterfall, Making it back to my van, heading into Grand Marais to Radio Shack, biking from Highway 14 to Kadunce, continueing on the SHT after the Kadunce River Bridge, doing a bunch of small ups and downs to two campsites, going up to a blowdown area, getting back to Highway 14, spending the night at the Casino Hotel

Highway 14 to the Pincushion Mountain Trailhead
Hiking down to Kimball Creek and Campsite, then back up the other side, reaching the Scrub Oak Overlook, hiking a series of small ups and downs then getting to Cliff Creek and campsite, hiking another series of small ups and downs to Durfee's Creek and campsite, hiking to the Wildflower Hill Overlook of Five Mile Rock, heading mainly downhill to Wood's Creek, doing a hillside creekwalk along the creek until coming to the campsite, getting to Highway 58, hiking along the creek after Highway 58, then hiking along side the Devil Track River Gorge, hiking up, up and more up, encountering several stairs, finally making it to Spruce Knob, going down to two very cool Devil Track Campsites, hiking along the river then up a massive staircase, finding the Pincushion Mountain Ski Trail System, hiking up to the Pincushion Mountain Overlook, hiking the ski trails to the Parking lot, getting shuttle back to Hwy 14 by Dave, eating at Chicken Night at the American Legion and singing Karaoke at the Birch Terrace

Pincushion Mountain Trailhead to Tower Road, then home
Setting the bike out on Tower Road, meeting Dave and Lance at the Pincushion Moutain Trailhead, starting out on ski trails until the SHT splits off, hiking gradually uphill to the Gunflint Trail, hiking vigorously uphill after the Gunflint Trail, hiking on the side of the hill, then turning right and hiking vigorously uphill again, hiking over a long boardwalk, making it to the Snowmobile/Dog Sledding Trail and then Tower Road, having one last misadventure, biking back to the trailhead, taking photos, visiting Stone Harbor Wilderness Supply, the Grand Marais Library and the Grand Marais Muncipal Campground, heading out, visiting Cascade State Park and the Cobblestone Cabins, having a detour, visiting Chippewa Falls, and stopping in for Karaoke when I got back to Madison.
