August 2015

So far, I've been working on

  • Assessing the best model scale to use
  • generating the GIS maps that will be used to generate the grids for MaxEnt
  • Trialling different acoustic survey protocols

I'm trialling the use of a 100m x 100m grid for the MaxEnt model, this gives me 376x222 points, so slightly smaller in model space terms than the detailed Parkhurst Forest work (430 x 300). This still allows a reasonable resolution of the habitat, but will not create a major burden on the computer in terms of the model solving.

I have the first map set ready to convert to ESRI format for habitat, altitude, proximity to water, proximity to woodland and proximity to buildings.

I'm still assessing the best mix of static and walked transects to use.

Hopefully will get some details online by the end of August for both the model and survey protocols.
