A couple more quick announcements. Race registration has transitioned over the the chronotrack system so that Elite Runners Timing can start assigning bib numbers and be ready to go on Saturday. If you still want to register go here https://register.chronotrack.com/reg/form?eventID=15250

Also, you can now pick up your packet either today or tomorrow at Elite Runners and Walkers store in Robinson. Stop in and get your packet and some rain gear!

It looks like it is going be wet and cold this year. Please plan accordingly. We should have some areas under the pavilion to set your stuff during the race, but the use of dry bags and/or ziplock bags would be advised if you want to keep extra clothing dry.

30k, 50k, 50M Pre-Race Announcements

Greetings Hell Hath No Hurry 30K, 50K, 50 Mile Runners!

I hope everyone's training is going well and that you are ready for the race next Saturday. The long range weather forecast looks promising in that the temperature may not be a factor, but given the amount of rain we've been getting lately, I would say it is going to be wet. None the less, we have some finishing touches to put on the trails this week and will have the course well marked by race day. Below is a quick list of what you need to know for the race.

Registration – Registration is nearing capacity (80 spots out of 100 filled in 10K, 41 out of 50 in 30K, 32 out of 40 in 50k, and 24 out of 30 in 50 Mile), and registration will likely close before race day. Have your friends/family register now if they want to run this race. There is not likely to be race day registration and on-line registration may end as early as Wednesday.

Packet Pickup - Friday June 26, 2015 from 10 am to 7 pm at Elite Runners and Walkers - 5992 Steubenville Pike, McKees Rocks, PA 15136, Phone: 412-490-0881

Late Packet Pickup - All day at race start/finish location beginning at 5 am.

Race Start Time - Saturday June 27, 2015

50Mile - 6:00 AM

50K – 10:00 AM

30K – 2:00 PM

Arrive 60 minutes before if you need to get your packet.

Arrive 30 minutes before if you just need to park.

Races will start promptly, don't be late!

Race Location – Algonquin Groove of Settlers Cabin Park. The following address will get you to the main entrance of the park using your Garmin - 639 Ridge Rd, Pittsburgh, PA 15205. Here are the exact coordinates -40°26'01.6"N 80°09'27.2"W

Parking - Once you get to the park follow the signs and/or volunteers directing you where to park. 30K, 50K, 50Mile runners can park at the Algonquin groove as space permits, please only park at Algonquin if you are running one of the longer distances. Overflow parking will be in the Giblert Love parking lot, with more overflow in the wave pool parking lot. Crew/Family/Friends are encouraged to park in overflow parking.

Course - Course will be marked with Orange flagging ribbon. I will go over the course details immediately before starting the race, another good reason to arrive early!

Aid - There will be one aid station at the approximate half way point and one aid station at the start/finish line. Additionally, runners can setup an area at the start/finish line for their own personal stuff, ie, coolers, clothing, chairs. This area can be assessed after every loop and allows runners to have other needed items nearby.

Other – All participants must follow the rules! No littering! No whining! And no cheating! All rules are subject to enforcement and subjective decision of Race Director.

Awards – Custom metal finisher’s awards will be given to all finishers. Plus a $20 gift certificate to Dick’s Sporting Goods for the first Male and Female finisher of the 30K and 50K race. A $50 gift certificate goes to the first male and female 50 Mile finisher.

Post-Race – We are going to have a complete BBQ for all runners, crews and friends this year. This will include typical BBQ fare, burgers, dogs, chips, salads, pop and last but not least beer.

June 17-2015

Couple more things coming together for the race. I ordered more awards for the 10k and have opened up 25 more registrations capping it out at 100 participants. This is the final increase, register now to beat another price increase and ensure you place in the race.

We also have two new sponsors to add to the race .http://www.succeedscaps.com/ has donated a bottle of S-Caps to be distributed at the aid stations. If you have ever suffered from heat dehydration I highly recommend their products. I have been using S-Caps for year and their "Pre-Race" nutrient pack has been useful as well. Please check them out!

I'm also happy to report that Trail Runner has donated a one year subscription to be distributed to one lucky participant. Not sure how that person will be picked, but it will be known by race day.

June 14-2015

So on top of Elite Runners and Walkers being the primary sponsor, Dick's Sporting Goods has donated some awards for 1st place male and female finishers in each race. The awards will be as follows, 10K, 30K, 50K first place male and female each received a $20 Dick's gift card. The first place male and female in the 50 Mile will be getting a $50 gift card. Good luck racers!

June 12 - 2015

Tomorrow will be less than 2 weeks to race day, I hope everyone's training is going well.

As of now the 10k has reached its capacity, and I opened up a waiting list for those still interested. I may be able to open up some more 10k spots if there are not more registrants in the 30k, 50k and 50 miler. Entry fees go up next Saturday, so get off the fence and register now!

Shirts and visor are here and you can see what they look like in the photo below. Those who did not pre-order shirts, we will have a limited number available on race day for $15. The awards are cut and are out getting shot blasted, production should finish up next week.

Course is marked, thanks to John Messner, so feel free to go out and run a loop before race day.

We are still looking for volunteers on race day.

That is it! Good luck to everyone running Laurel Highlands tomorrow or Rachel Carson the following week!
