HHNH-2015

Written Description of Trail of 2015 course.

Starting at Algonquin groove run North, up the hill and cross over Papose drive towards the Gilbert Love shelter. Continue to end of Gilbert Love shelter parking lot and pick up the red trail which continues north along edge of field and up the hill towards Bayer Road. Trail makes slight right at top of road onto old park road and continue for 200-300 feet before turning left and descending onto red trail. Trail continues through gully and does multiple switch backs with very slight up and downs. Trail eventually ends up on Greer Road and the start of the Red Trail at approximately 0.3 miles.

Cross over Greer Road and follow Red Blazes down the trail descending into the woods and away from Bayer Road. Red trails descends sharply at first and then levels out and continues through wooded and open sections. Follow sign to the Lake Route and then end up back on Red Trail. Continue on Red trail all the way to Old Greer Road, which is looking more like a passable road due to some recent construction.

Continue Straight/East over Old Greer Road onto trail heading uphill. Trail comes to a T at top of hill and turn left to continue climbing up the trail. This section of trail runs parallel to Old Greer Road and is not blazed. Continue following this trail until it comes to a T at the start of the Purple Trail. At this point go up hill and take a right onto unblazed trail which eventually drops back onto the purple trail. Continue on purple until it intersects with Green. Take the green trail and then look for trail to the right which goes down to a water fall. Cross over stream and look out for green blazes up the hill. Keep your eyes focused on the ascent to your right, with the trail eventually becoming very steep and deeply rutted. Plod on for about 0.25 miles and you will soon be rewarded with the intersection of the blue trail and more nice wide flat runnable trail.

At the top of the green trail make a right on the blue trail and continue approximately 0.75 miles until the trail comes out into an open field and tennis courts. Make a left BEFORE the tennis courts and continue up the hill in the field. This section of trail in not blazed and not part of the blue loop. Towards the top of the hill the trail snakes to the left to continue its ascent towards the parking lots of the Chipewa/Flint grooves. Make a sharp right at the top of the hill and continue past the Mohawk shelter running through an open area along the tree line. Eventually the field comes down to where the blue trail is again intersected by making a right back into the woods. Follow the blue trail another 0.3 miles until it makes a steep decent. At the bottom of the hill make a sharp left to continue up an un-blazed trail to arrive back at the Algonquin Shelter and one complete loop of the Hell Hath No Hurry 2015 Course.
