engine teardown

Some of the pictures are large files. This is so I can see the detail when I start to put everything back into place.

(Taken 4/7/00)

The engine is a 273 with a 4 bbl carb, part of the Commando V8 package.

This is the engine before we got started. The leaves and some fiberglass was removed before I took this picture.

Taken between 10/7/00 and 5/12/01

The start of the clean up. The intake manifold has been cleaned and repainted with HEMI orange. The valve covers were painted with black crinkle paint. Old oil has been removed from most of the top of the engine.

This was the first attempt. Since these have been taken, a full rebuild has occurred. Oil wax based oil sludge made the first plan obsolete. Really a no brainer.

The front two cylinders had major wear and were sleeved and bored. Crank was tuned .01 and 1 under bearings installed. Heads are 85 318 port and polished. Chain tensioner from Ram pick-up. Windage tray and valley pan.
