Softrock_WSJT-X_CAT

George HA5AOE told me that WSJT-X has the Softrock (and other SDRs) in its CAT menu.

While this does not mean soundcard SDRs will work directly with WSJT-X it does give another way to control them without using a virtual serial port.

The audio to and from HDSDR, or another SDR program must be connected to WSJT-X by way of a virtual audio cable as shown here. If the method shown below is used then HDSDR does not need to be setup for CAT and the Softrock is tuned and PTT actuated by WSJT-X using the USB connection.

WSJT-X will set the SDR's local oscillator to the Dial Frequency.

To use WSJT-X this way an SDR program must be used to cancel the receive and transmit images.

It will require to be set so the receive frequency is the same as the LO frequency, then in USB mode WSPR tones will appear at 1400-1600Hz.

At zero tune/local oscillator HDSDR shows WSPR at 1400 to 1600Hz. And will transmit at 1400-1600Hz.

Receive and transmit images will be seen at -1400 to -1600Hz and must be cancelled as normal.
