Mission

Mission and development

Graduate Institute of Museum Studies at Fu Jen University was founded in 2002 by Dr. Chou Kung-shin, the former director of the National Palace Museum. The mission of the Institute is to give and provide students the opportunity to study a wide range of museum related topics; from the history of museum to contemporary museum issues; from the traditional arts to new media technologies and from social politics to popular culture. The programme draws on established and holistic research and teaching, seeking to equipping our students with professional training and a preview before going into the museum industry.

We encourage students to be innovative, creative and to practice the art of teamwork, to embark on this journey of diversity and cooperation with both the faculties and students together. We believe the passion that lies in both academic and hands-on guidance will lead to a successful learning environment for our students.

As our university’s motto goes; Veritas (Truth), Bonitas (Goodness), Pulchritudo (Beauty), and Sanctitas (Sanctity), the Graduate Institute of Museum Studies at Fu Jen University always and will be the place for you and your curiosity in museums to be.
