Family run pub serves home cooked meals and an extensive range of beers and ales. Open daily. Approximately 3.5 miles from the Firs.

The Bridge Inn, Michaelchurch Eskley
Good food and selection of cask ales and cider on tap. Large riverside beer garden. Check out their facebook page for up to date information. Approximately seven miles.
Bistro in Peterchurch, serving locally sourced food approximately 12 miles from the Firs.
Reputed to be the oldest pub in Wales. In Llanvihangel Crucorney, five miles north from Abergavenny
Ewyas Harold, a village about nine miles from the Firs has a couple of pubs and a good fish and chip shop, The Old Stables (01981 240237 or 07970 361457). Closed on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Run jointly by local hotelier William Griffiths and by the famous chef Shaun Hill (formerly of the Michelin-starred Merchant House in Ludlow), has recently been awarded one Michelin star. At Llandewi Skirrid, two miles east of Abergavenny.
In Hay on Wye and open 11.00 - 11.00 pm, serving illy coffee, home-made cakes and full tapas menu between 12 - 3 and 6 - 10 pm. Run by Tricia, part owner of The Firs (so drop in and say hello and let her know how your stay at The Firs is going) and her friend Thalia!
Shopping
Hopes of Longtown is the nearest village shop and post office to The Firs. Open 7 days a week, stocking a wide range of items.
Hay-on-Wye has many small shops - a great place to browse for second hand books, antiques and unusual gifts. For food shopping there is a thriving Thursday market, a well stocked Londis shop in the town and a Co-op on the B4350 just out of town.
