Peter Ganz 1870

We do not have any surviving pictures of Petro Ganz.  Above image is representation of police uniform that Petro might have wore while he was employed as Austro-Hungarian Policeman in Nowa Wies.

Peter GANZ, (Piotr Ganc) was born July 03 1870 in Rybolówka (Komarno)/Gal. [UA]6, babtised 03.07.1870 in Lowczyce/Gal. [UA]6, luth.

Peter became austrian police officer in Nowa Wies (some sources say  Uscie Ruskie) near Gorlice now Poland.

He lived in the commandant’s house.  Possible that he used alcohol too much.

He had an argument with commandant’s wife and lost his job.

Ashamed that he was fired, did not want to go back to his family in german colony around Lviv (Rudky/Rybolówka - Komarno)

Peter settled in Wysowa, where he married (14 Feb 1901) a widow with 2 daughters – Anna Taratuta (Dulyna).  He became a farmer, his new wife had a farm, but he did not have much of experience, especially in difficult mountain farming.  He visited USA several times. Lived in Yonkers (Symel/Mulbery St. 42 Steet), New York. Sent money for his family to come to US, but his wife used the money to help her children (specially her 2 daughters from first marriage).  Possibly had a lover (Kasia) in US.  After returning from his last trip to US, he became ill and on the way went to hospital in Krakow for treatment.

Died in Wysowa in 1926 from cancer or leukemia.

From US brought big sawing machine “Singer”, clock, and wooden travel boxes that were in Wysowa until 1980s
