there is a saying that the answer to any children’s sermon question is “Jesus.” Jesus is the right answer to most questions, including the one in this weekend’s reading from Acts.

ASK A QUESTION, SAVE A LIFE

We learned valuable, life-saving information in last Sunday’s Suicide Prevention training. Thank you to everyone who attended. Handouts are available. The national 24-hour suicide hotline is 988. 

Question the person about suicide. Do they have thoughts? Feelings? Plans? Don’t be afraid to ask.

Persuade the person to get help. Listen carefully. Then say, “Let me help.” Or, “Come with me to find help.”

Refer for help. If a child or adolescent, contact any adult, any parent. Or call a pastor, teacher, coach or counselor. 4C Health offers 24/7 crisis help at 1-800-552-3106, or text IN to 741-741. A person in crisis can get help in 4C’s Acute Care Unit in Logansport (1015 Michigan Ave.), or the hospital emergency room.
