Internal competitions

The Chess club organises several internal competitions: Comp Summary.pdf

Club Championship: Run throughout the season.  Each participant is responsible for challenging opponents and arranging for matches.  The person with the highest score at the end of the competition is declared the winner.  Time controls are as per matches in the MSCL (42 moves in 90 mins + 15 mins to complete game or the new time control of full game in 65 mins with a 30 sec increment from move 1).

See Club Championship for rules and results.  Due to the Corona virus pandemic, the club championship for 19/20 was cancelled and not played during the 20/21 or 21/22 season.

Rapid Play:  Run throughout the season.  Each participant is responsible for challenging opponents and arranging matches.  The person with the highest number of points at the end of the competition is declared the winner.  Time control is: all moves to be completed in 30 mins ( or 25 minutes with a 10 second increment).

See Rapid play for rules and results. Due to the Corona virus pandemic, the rapid play tournament was cancelled for  19/20 and 20/21

Knock-out: Like the FA Cup, matches in each round are drawn from a hat.  The winner of the match goes through to the next round, the loser drops out of the competition.
