Performance Programme

DAC PERFORMANCE PROGRAMME 2014-2015

The Programme works on a points system. It recognises quality as well as quantity, and regular participation and attendance at the Club. It includes: road; track and field; cross country/trail events on the provincial or national calendar; the Club time trial (last Thursday of each month at 17h30); the monthly DAC mile (2nd Thursday of each month at 18h00); the DAC pre-Comrades long run; the 5km Parkrun; and any other event approved by the committee. Registered helpers in DAC organised events such as the Calder/Sulin 10km will also earn points. To qualify for awards, Members will need to achieve a minimum of 75 points between 1 October 2014 and 30 September 2015. Different race distances each carry a number of points, and you can double your points if you achieve or break the Club Standard Time for your age group in either the Mile or Time Trial. Keep a running total of your points and keep the Club informed.

The aim is to have an objective measure for awards; and secondly, to encourage DAC Members to take part in more events, especially shorter events, in order to improve race performance over longer distances. The advantage of this Programme is that you are not limited as to which events you choose to run. If you are not an ultra runner you can still qualify by doing more shorter events (or by doubling your points in the club mile and time trials). DAC time trials have been given a greater weighting. All Members are encouraged to take part in DAC organised monthly time trial and mile, and attend the regular club runs as points are awarded and there’s no entry fee to pay. It is possible to earn 9 points a month by just doing the club organised runs without paying any entry fees. Parkrun is also free, you can register online www.parkrun.co.za
