PANS & PANDA

Lyme disease can cause persistent and chronic signs and symptoms that indicate multi-organ involvement. Patients can experience times of active disease and times of remission. This is similar to what is also seen in Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with streptococcal infections (PANDAS).

QUOTE- "The National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH) acknowledged that PANS, a treatable autoimmune condition, could be triggered by any number of infections (other than strep), and that patients could be diagnosed with the condition even if the infectious trigger(s) was unknown." Source
