Lyme disease can cause persistent and chronic signs and symptoms that indicate multi-organ involvement. Patients can experience times of active disease and times of remission. This is similar to what is also seen in Pediatric Autoimmune Neuropsychiatric Disorders Associated with streptococcal infections (PANDAS).
