The McManamans - a family of clerics and warriors
http://www.mcmanaman.net - In the Oct 2002 Draft, you'll find info about Katherine English McManaman, who was Grandma Laura's grandmother. Katherine's son Patrick, who married Mary (May) McGinty, was Grandma Laura's father. Also, on the farm photos page, Mike, Jim, Hugh, and Willie are Laura's first cousins, children ofPatrick's brother James. The first family cookbook provides more info.
That site inspired Chloe to do some further research. It seems the McManamans are descended from the Ferleighin Lector O'Donnell, a supposed member of the literati and the grandfather of the first McMenmans.
There are McManamans still in Dooega on Achill Island in County Mayo, descendants we think of a couple of Patrick's brothers. Aunt Grace visited some of them a few years back. We drove through there when we were in Ireland in 2008. It's a windswept place with spectacular sea views and a lot of sheep, isolated and quiet and lovely.
