Evenings
We have a full calendar of optional social activities at the end of each day.
Monday 19th
Workshop participants are welcome to stay at the Googleplex for a full tour and dinner. After dinner there will be a bus which takes you back to the hotels.
Costs: None.
Tuesday 20th
Several local dinner options are being planned for the first day of the symposium. A bus will be available from the Googleplex to the hotels and restaurants, and another bus will be available after dinner to return to the hotels.
Costs: Pay for your own dinner (except those eating at Google).
Wednesday 21st
Wednesday evening we are arranging a special outing for all DocEng participants: a sunset cruise on San Francisco Bay. Starting from Fisherman's Wharf, we will circle Alcatraz, Angel Island and pass under the Golden Gate Bridge. With great views of San Francisco outside, and with food and live music inside, this should be a memorable trip. Bring a camera and dress warmly. Timeline for 21 September 2011:
16:30 - Buses leave the Googleplex, arriving at Pier 43½ by 17:45.
18:00 - Two hour cruise begins, with the sun setting at 19:10.
20:15 - Buses leave for Mountain View, returning directly to the hotels by 21:30.
Costs: Free for all DocEng participants. A limited number of extra guests may accompany us for $50 each.
Thursday 22nd
After the conference concludes, participants and guests are welcome to stay for a full tour of the Googleplex, dinner and a movie. The Google Cinema Club will be screening the film Helvetica. Transportation back to the hotels will not be offered after the movie.
Costs: None.
