Lancashire Hussars (2)

Photographs of Cpl Brice G Dean 1899

In May 1921 The Lancashire Hussars suffered yet another metamorphosis becoming 106 (Lancashire Yeomanry) Brigade RFA, with two batteries. The War Office permitted and former officers and men of the Hussars to transfer to the reformed DLOY. Among those transferring was Major HA Bromilow, shortly to command DLOY.

The role of the DLOY was exactly as it had been in 1914: Divisional Cavalry to the 42nd (East Lancashire) Division, whose headquarters were now at Preston. Reversion to the familiar duties of mounted cavalry were welcomed and the first post-war annual camp held in July 1922 at Dinarth Hall near Rhyl attracted 13 officers, 232 other ranks and 215 horses.
