History
The Chesapeake Colorectal Society (CCS) was created by a vote of the Founder's Committee on December 13, 1990, with the goal of promoting the study and treatment of diseases of the colon, rectum and anal canal. It is a regional society covering the Chesapeake Bay area from Washington D.C. and Baltimore to the Hampton Roads area and from the Eastern Shore to Richmond and Charlottesville.
The Society is open to surgeons who specialize in Colon and Rectal Surgery and to general surgeons who have a particular interest in this area. In addition, participation by physicians in surgical residency training programs is encouraged. The Society typically meets twice a year, in the spring and in the fall.
We hope that this Society will be a positive influence on the practice of colon and rectal surgery and that it will provide a forum for the dissemination of new information and for the exchange of ideas in this growing specialty.
