"Among the earliest and most successful female duo singers from 60s to mid 80s were Radha & Jayalakshmi, both students of T R Balasubramanaim, who himself was one of the prime disciples of the Champion vocalist G N Balasubramanian. They were the rage at their peak and had no dearth of concerts. Although they were not related by birth, the sang together till Radha's throat let her down when they gave up their concert career. Their singing was brisk & breezy & Jayalakshmi's voice was sweet, with depth & clarity. One could see the GNB pedigree in their singing."
