Update on Brenda Power
Power aka Bates was introduced to the alternative healing world almost twenty years ago. Her introduction started with herbal remedies, theological studies, reflexology, and raw foods. Her mother was her first client. After the passing of her mother in 1992, Power wanted to give up. Her mother had come to her in a dream and told her how wonderful she felt and she looked good. Her mother explained all the people she met and she told her of what flowers and what kind of service. She even told her daughter to never give up on this path just because I die. After that vision Power continued with her alternative healing studies and moved into hands-on-healing, homeopathic remedies, energy medicine and aura, chakra and meridian work. Power started "Giving HOPE" as her home-based business in 2003. She only saw people by appointment only. She didn’t really advertise. She got all of her business through word of mouth.

She attempted to expand her business from her home to a building that was the old "Farmer's Market." She was in preparation mode when on Feb 15th at approximately 2:00 am the building caught on fire. She was in shock when my neighbor called around 2:30am. Her husband and her ran down there but the police wouldn't let them pass. She was deviated. She ran home in freezing temperatures crying the whole time. The cold air hurt her lungs but she didn’t care. Power says that she learned a lesson from all of that. Be in this world but not of this world. She let go of all of her worldly attachments before her ego had a chance to drive her crazy. At this time, it is still undetermined what caused the fire. It took only a matter of days before rumors spread. Power felt like she was in high school again. Power stated that, people have imagination based on fear or revenge. Hearing it all was like watching a show called "Imagination gone wild." Some of the stories could have made your mouth drop. All she knew was, that when she went down to the site, her things to help people heal from books that you could learn from, and the cards that inspired and the natural remedy medicine were all gone. She found a dead animal in the back corner where the fire supposedly started. She asked me if I saw the movie “National Lapoon's Christmas vacation.” There is a scene where the cat got fried because it chewed on the wire. She told me of a hole in her front window and a cat would always come in and get some love. She even heard that the fire could have been sabotage. I had only one couple that hated me so much and would do anything to see me fail. I don’t believe they started the fire but I do believe they hated me. She even heard the rumor that the devil did it. The one that made her laugh was the rumor that it was used for a meth lab. The stories went on and on.
After Feb 15, 2007 fire, more bad news came her way. On Feb 28, 2007 my father-in-law died and then on Mach 13, 2007 my mother-in-law passed away. All she felt at the time was a little bit numb. She was spiritually awakened enough to know how to process the events that occurred. The message that came through for her was that this is a blessing. Something had to happen for a something else to happen. She felt like this was a soul construction.
She didn’t rebuild her business in the same locate. She didn't rent any space. Her husband didn’t really want to rent the space that his parents lived in to strangers. He told his wife to use that part of the house for her business. She put up shelves in the dining room for the Giving HOPE business.
In 2008, she was praying about what to learn next. A friend of hers told her about the Nemenhah band. She knew immediately that this is what she is to become. She didn’t have to think twice about it. She knew that was what God wanted her to do next. She feels more complete these days. She is looking forward to each adventure each day.
