Built as Hanau for German-Australian Line (Deutsche-Australische Dampfschiffs Gesellschaft), Hamburg

Her longest voyage was of 519 days, sailing from the Tyne with a cargo of coke and coal for Chile, then carrying full cargoes of salt, wheat, sugar and nitrates before returning to Cardiff.

One voyage was noteable in that most of the crew contracted dengue disease and had to be repatriated while a Chinese crew took over.

1919 allocated to Great britain as war reparations

1921 bought by Boltons

1931 laid up and subsequently broken up

The only ship to ever be disposed of by Bolton directly to a shipbreaker.
