BIDEFORD VICTORIA PARK BOWLING CLUB

The Club

Victoria Park Bowling Club and Bideford Ladies Bowling Club were founded in 1950. In 2005 both clubs, Men's and Ladies, merged to form a single entity of the mixed Bideford Victoria Park Bowling Club.

Members are mainly drawn from the Bideford and wider Torridge area, and the club has over 80 playing members, together with a growing number of social members.

The clubhouse is spacious and has excellent catering and bar facilities. The green can accommodate a maximum of 7 rinks, and is always maintained to a very high standard, being considered one of the finest playing surfaces in North Devon.

We are always pleased to accommodate touring sides and are willing to approach other local clubs to assist your plans. Contact our fixtures secretary who will be only too pleased to help.

There is a vibrant social side to the club which, during the winter months, hosts a number of events for the benefit of all members, their partners and social members.

See "The Social Side" link for this year's Winter / Close Season planned events.

The Clubhouse

We are fortunate to have a spacious clubhouse with excellent catering and bar facilities. Often used for functions during the winter the clubhouse easily adapts to cater for a variety of visitors or good club social events.

The Bar

The "Park Bar" is always popular with some of the best club prices in the area. The bar sports a wide ranging selection of beverages to suit almost every taste.

The Green

We can accommodate up to 7 rinks, on our well maintained green, in its' splendid park setting. As its' name suggests, the club is situated in a secluded corner of Bideford's delightful Victoria Park, and is close to the Quay area of Bideford's working port, where the various craft that visit Bideford for pleasure or commercial purposes can be seen.

During the close season, 2016/2017, we have renewed and upgraded our green's ditches, and replaced the banks and surrounds, an ongoing commitment to the future of our club.

Joining Us

Bideford Victoria Park Bowling Club is a mixed lawn bowls club and welcomes new bowlers.  Whether you are young or older, male or female, experienced or absolute beginner you will always find a warm welcome at "The Park".

New bowlers can come along free to one of our open days where you can be introduced to the game by qualified coaches or long standing experienced members. See local press for details. Alternatively, you can just come along to the green when you see it occupied and someone will try to help you.

Prospective new members can either contact our club secretary for membership information, just call in for a membership form if there is someone at the club or download a form from the "Join Us" page.  We offer a trial period, for a nominal fee, so you can decide whether bowls is for you, but most people, who are invited to take up full membership, end up staying for years.

Bideford

Bideford has a historic "long bridge" has arches which are almost filled by the highest of tides seen on this tidal section of the river Torridge. The passenger ferry to Lundy Island, the "M.S. Oldenburg", is based here.

Bideford, itself, is a historic town, with attractive shopping, including a traditional pannier market. There is also a nearby outlet centre "Affinity Devon" formerley known as "Atlantic Village".

The town is really "by the river" where the recently built up quayside offers a good stroll on the flat. We look forward to seeing you here at Bideford, "the little white town", in glorious North Devon.
