Civic Action: Where to place Cell Phone Towers?

No one likes having a Cell phone tower in their back yard. The town needs to find a spot that is minimally intrusive. To make that determination, I worked with a Tower company to create this visualization. The goal was to clearly describe the visual impact of two different potential sites, Amsterdam and Hoag's Cross. Some residents would be able to see the top of a tower above the tree-tops if it were positioned at Hoag's Cross (small blue circles). Some families would also be able to see the top of the tower if it were positioned at the Amsterdam site (small yellow circles). Most significant, however, is that five families would have a direct, unobstructed view of the tower and its base station if it were positioned at the Amsterdam site (large yellow circles). A visualization like this can simplify and objectify discussion around what could be a very emotional decision.
