Drum Making Workshop

Cost: $160*

Do you love drumming? Have you ever wanted a hand drum? Have you ever wanted to learn how to make your own drum?

Michael RedTurtle is offering the chance to make your own drum. All materials will be provided in the workshop and he will teach the traditional way, as he was taught, to make a hand drum. During the workshop, Michael will share some of the traditional stories of the drum and why it is both important and sacred to us. You will end the workshop with your very own 16” drum covered with Elk hide, as well as a beater (also made by you). Frame choices include round, 8-sided or 12-sided.

The workshop will break at lunch for a potluck lunch. So, be sure to bring a dish to share. Plan to spend approximately 3-4 hours for the workshop.

* A deposit of $80 is required to secure a place in this workshop, due no later than June 7, 2010. This deposit is non-refundable, as it is used to purchase all the materials for the workshop. The remaining balance is due at the start of the workshop. When paying the deposit, please select which style frame you would like.
