Healthy Weight

We all want our dogs to be healthy and happy! Unfortunately, many families in the U.S. feel that a plump dog is a happy dog - the Association for Pet Obesity Prevention states that approximately 53.9% of dogs in the U.S. are overweight. The Labrador breed in particular is prone to several health issues which being overweight can cause or exacerbate; hips and other joint disease, muscle and tendon injuries, bloat (GDV)... But many are used to seeing the physique of the overweight Labrador and unfamiliar with the physique of a truly fit one. None of the following photos depicts an Arctic Texan Labrador.)
