Status Animarum Records

Status Animarum translates as “the state of souls.” They contain names and information about baptism, marriage, burial, and relationship to head of household for everyone living in a parish by house number. Spouses often show the town and house where they were born or moved. They were kept by the parish priests for internal purposes. Handwriting and format varies by priest. These were filmed at the church.

  • Book B is the earliest covering 1846-1874 - Any prior records would be at the Ecclesiastical Archives in Ljubljana

  • Books A & C cover 1875 - 1886 - all are online - only a few are indexed

  • Book D includes a number of living people so it has not been posted

These records were filmed during March, 1999 at the church by Mark & Nancy Ohlde.

See the article Cousin to Cousin at Genealogy According to Jeff for a little background.

See Locations for the towns, villages, or settlements that are included.

Photographs have also been posted for many of the villages.

Unfortunately the current house numbers do not match those in the older church records.
