1918 April 18 - Paul Henderson's Letter

April 18 - [Letter to John Stevenson's wife Viola (Vogie) from Paul Henderson]

Dear Vogie,

Although Jack has been in France for several weeks I haven't seen him yet & probably won't for three weeks more.

Just after he landed I was sent up to here to the British lines and won't be back in our lines for at least ten days more.

I have had one telegram from him & know where he is - I have sent him several letters but have had none from him because of my being away off up here.

There place where I am now is only a very few miles from the present big German push. For a week I have heard the roar of the guns day & night.

I hope that when I get back to our headquarters I can get Jack with me .

I am and have been homesick as the very dickens - seeing Jack will help that a great deal I know - I wrote him last night to look out for me I may kiss him I'll be so glad to see him.

Except for my homesickness I am feeling fine - I am really getting fat I think!

I hope you are well & that Sarah Helen is getting bigger every day.

May best to you for the mother.

Yours Paul H.
