Food

The google map below shows a number of restaurants in downtown Liège which have been vetted by the organizers. There are many more, of course... Green dots have good vegetarian options. The black diamond is the conference venue.

Schedule

The ABINIT Developer Workshop 2015 will begin at 9:00 on Tuesday April, 28 at the salle Pousseur of the Amphithéâtres Opéra

The ABINIT Developer Workshop 2015 will end at 13:00 on Thursday April, 30 (after the lunch and before the coding/discussion groups).

There will be coding and discussion groups organized on Thursday afternoon. The goals will be (among others) to prepare abinit 8, plan roadmaps, and look at features like parallel io, librarification/ESL, or benchmarking.

An outing is scheduled in late afternoon on wednesday 29 (as well as a dinner).

Registration fee

No registration fee is requested. Participants should by default pay their own travel and accomodation. Depending on the success of funding requests partial or full reimbursement of participants will follow the conference. Please keep all receipts and in particular boarding passes and train tickets!!!

Transportation

You can reach the workshop location (see map in the "location" tab):

    • By car:
    • place de l'Opéra, B-4000 Liège, Belgium
    • GPS coordinates: 50°38'36.7"N 5°34'16.3"E
  • By plane:

The most convenient airports for Liège are Brussels, Charleroi ("Brussels South"), and Maastricht (Dusseldorf and Koln are also possible).

From Brussels airport take the train to Brussels North then Liège Guillemins

From Charleroi you need to take a bus downtown to "Charleroi Sud" then the train.

    • By train:
    • Belgian rail web site stop at "Liège Guillemins" station. Thalys and ICE trains stop in Liège as well (see also the Raileurope web site).
    • By bus:
    • By public transport the last leg of your journey will probably use the bus. The website of the TEC (transports en commun) shows time tables and routes, which you will probably not even need: Most bus lines from the train station go to Opéra, St Lambert or République Française, all of which are close to the venue. In particular you can take lines 1, 3, 4, 25, 27, or 48.
    • NB: at the Guillemins train station main exit, take buses on the opposite side of the street, going to your left if you have your back to the station!
