365challenges to try

So ... you think you'd like to take the 365challenge for Cancer Research UK? That's fantastic. Together, we can raise a great deal of money for the vital work of this charity as it fights to tackle cancer.Spending 365 days pushing yourself, proving to your sponsors that your efforts are worthy of their donations, is going to take a lot of commitment, but once you've selected your challenges (which don't all have to be physical, by the way - see below), and have seen the impact that your proposed 365challenge has on your friends, family and colleagues, I promise you, you'll be motivated to get going. Obviously, you're free to be as creative as you want to be in designing your own 365challenge - all I'd ask is that you create challenges that you have a realistic chance of completing, and also that, if you've not been particularly active before starting your 365challenge, you seek medical advice before taking on too much. 365challenge.co.uk cannot be responsible for any injuries you

might incur as you take your challenges, so be sensible from the start to ensure that you will finish healthier than you began!

As I've said, the range of possible challenges is as varied as your imagination (steady, now ...), but to get you thinking, I've created a list of challenge suggestions** that you might want to consider. These are all challenges that you can complete in your gym, cumulatively adding up your distances over time on various machines to achieve your target. You could choose a single challenge that will take the full year to complete, or perhaps 3 or 4, as I have, to carry out across the year. You may even decide to do something different every month - 12 challenges across your 365challenge year! It's entirely up to you. Take the 365challenge as an individual, or link up with some friends and form your very own Team 365challenge group to motivate and support each other as you share the miles towards your goal - you can then get sponsored jointly or individually, raising even more for CRUK!

    • Host a social event once a month for a year at a local hotel or pub (approach them to support you with a free room and advertising). Have a different theme each month - Murder Mystery / Karaoke / Fancy Dress etc., and have an entrance fee or collection tin to hand. You maybe could get donations for an auction on the night too.
    • Commit to asking 365 people to donate £10 for Cancer Research UK over your 365challenge year. That could be asking one person a day, or several all at once, but by the end of the year, you'll be close to your £3650 target if not beyond it.

What else could you do ... send suggestions to me at colin@365challenge.co.uk and I'll put the best ones up here for all to see.

** Please note that distances are rounded up in many cases
