Helpful Resources

If you need support for your wellbeing while at university, there are many resources and people we encourage you to turn to:

In the University:

Student Mental Health, Counselling and Therapies Service

Process: register online for support, after which you may be offered an initial consultation (usually, 45 mins), counselling/therapy (usually, a series of 50 min sessions), or a referal to other specialist services.

Through the Student Mental Health, Counselling and Therapies Service you can also access:

In the Faculty:

One to One appointment with a Wellbeing Advisor

Each Faculty has trained Wellbeing Advisors. In the Faculty of Arts and Humanities, your Advisors are Cat Atkinson and Ben Webster (you can find them in the Wellbeing office on the ground floor of Jessop West). Appointments are booked online, with either advisor, and meetings can be conducted remotely or in person.

What to expect: a confidential meeting of around 40 minutes, with practical guidance and signposting to other resources and sources of support.

Appointments can be booked centrally here: https://www.sheffield.ac.uk/ssid/wellbeing

In the School:

If you need advice and support, contact your Personal Tutor. You can book to see them in scheduled office hours (advertised on the Hub and usually in the tutor’s email signature) or you can just send them an email to ask for an appointment. While your Personal Tutor cannot offer specialist wellbeing advice, they will be a friendly listening ear and can help you find further support you might need.

If you are unsure who your PT is or are having difficulties making contact with them, ask for help at the English reception or email level1@sheffield.ac.uk , level2@sheffield.ac.uk  or level3@sheffield.ac.uk  as appropriate.
