Week 1 - Journal
Ideation
Tell us about your assignment's idea for this week. Why do you care about this idea? What inspired you? (Please include images or links to sources of inspiration)
The assignment idea is to download from an open-source CAD library 2D design and 3D design to fabricate models on a 3d printer and laser-cut machine.
3D printed model
I used to watch Pokemon anime as a kid, then as I got older, I went to watching Naruto, and that's why this module is about the combination of shows for kids and shows for grownups. Pikachu Kakashi.

Tea coaster with a pattern is ideal for me as someone who likes patterns and drinks four cups of tea every day.
Tool Chain
Which software/machines/materials did you use in the assignment? Why?
For 3D printing, I used
We use prusa i3 mk3 for 3D printing.
White PLA Filament.
We use Ultimate Cura Software to slice the 3d design and export it into a G-code file.
For Laser cut, I used
Morn MT3050D CO2 Machine to fabricate the model.
Plywood 3mm
We Use LaserCAD to send the Design to laser cut.
Design/Preparation Process
Explain the design and/or preparation process of your assignment. How did you use the tool or software to design and/or prepare your assignment before fabrication/implementation?
3D printing preparation process
Title of Media
Download the 3d model from the open-source CAD library (printables.com).STL format. 3d model link
Open the file in Ultimaker Cura software to prepare the file for printing
Print settings are 0.2 mm layer height, infill 20%, and I used Touching buildplate support and adhesion. weight model is 10g and the dimension 36x3739x50.6 mm. printing for 1h.

Development/Implementation Process
Explain the development/implementation process of your assignment. How did you use the machine/tool to manufacture or implement the design of your assignment?
3D printing Process
Video while printing
After preparing the file to print, I export it into a G-code file to print, move it to an SD card, put the SD card in the printer, and choose the file I want to print, then the printer heats up and starts printing.
Laser cut Process
Send the file to cut.
Check the origin point.
Check if the area is clear.
Start cut.
Overcoming Challenges
What kinds of challenges or problems did you face while doing the assignment, tutorials, or exercises? How did you solve them? Did you ask for help from an instructor or peer? Please provide a link to the tutorial or article that you used to solve your problem (if any)
When start printing the bed printer didn't clear, so Lab Specialist stop printing and clear the bed and start printing again.
I just want to line engrave the lines in red, not engrave the area, so I asked my instructor and he told me to change the setting from engraving to cutting and lower the power to 50 and raise the speed to 300.
The solution
Final Project
How can you use the skills and knowledge that you've acquired this week in your final project?
I got familiar with 3d printing and laser-cut machines, and use open source files.
the laser cut could help me to fabricate my final project.
WOW!
What is the coolest thing that you've learned this week? What is something that you will never forget from this week?
The laser cut can do any design in any shape, so that can open many choices to do while fabrication.
