Final Project Proposal
Project Ideation
1- Tell us about the purpose of your project. Which problem does it solve? Why do you care about this? What were you inspired by? Include images and videos of similar projects
The purpose of my project is to simple dispense and cut toilet paper. It solves the problem of spreading diseases through being a touch-less device that performs an action in a relatively polluted environment (toilets).
2- Describe the project idea and general features. How would it work?
Basically A push button or a motion sensor, then the toilet paper is dispensed and cut. It would work through a stepper and a dc motor to perform 2 consecutive functions.
3- Sketch your project: You may use pen and paper or a simple sketching tool like Microsoft Paint or Photoshop

4- Describe the Technical Modules that your project consists of
Construction Parts
plywood for the machine case.
PLA material to the attachments, couplers, etc.
Steel screws, nuts and washers.
Input
(Sensing, Tactile Input, and/or Graphical Input)
Tactile Inputs: A push button to initiate the function of the device. In the complete features the push button would be replaced by a motion sensor.
Action
(Physical and/or Graphic)
A stepper motor and a geared dc motor. The device performs a smart physical action where it dispenses a specific length of tape via the stepper motor and cuts and rolls it via the DC motor.
Brain
An Arduino board would act as the smart device's brain that processes the input and send orders to perform the action. Also, each motor has a desgnated driver thats makes it possible to control it.
Power Management
connect it to a 9V adapter .
5- Create a cardboard prototype of your project, demonstrating the project face as well as internal movements and mechanisms. Include a demo video and photos of the prototype.
Unfortunately since i had to start this project only a few days before the deadline, i didn't have time to build a cardboard prototype.
6- Categorize your project’s User Features into: Minimum, Complete, and Nice-to-have features. List the required action and input components per feature.
Minimum Features: are to automatically pull the tape and have easy access to change an empty roll and reload the machine.
Complete Features: A motion sensor instead of a push button, also dispensing a custom length of toilet paper.
Nice-to-have Features: if it can be also operated via batteries, not only adapters to be able to use it wherever you go.
Minimum User Features
Rotate tape and dispense.
Action: stepper motor
Sensing: Push button
User Input: yes.
Cutting and rolling tape
Action: DC motor
Complete User Features
