ARCHITECTURAL CAD

Architectural CAD (computer-aided drafting) is using software to model residential and commercial structures and create construction drawings that are used by architects and others for a number of purposes, including development of a design idea into a coherent proposal, communicating ideas and concepts, convincing clients of the merits of a design, enabling a building contractor to construct it, recording of the completed work, and to make a record of a building that already exists.

Architectural and construction drawings are made according to a set of conventions which include particular views (floor plans, elevations etc.), sheet sizes, units of measurement and scales, annotation and cross referencing. The use of CAD software is used to create the drawings, and a variety of materials are used to create the models.  Students will use to learn AutoCAD, Revit, and Lumion to create drawings, renderings, and walkthroughs in addition to modeling.  I am very excited to teach Lumion, as it has vastly improved our renderings and walkthroughs.
