Red Rock Central offers a Weekend Food Program to offer a supply of nutritious meals and snacks for children over the weekend, free of charge during the school year. If you are struggling to meet your family’s food needs and would benefit from receiving additional food, we would like to help.

If your family signs up for the program, your child/children will receive a bag of food each week until the end of the school year or until you no longer wish to participate. The bags will be placed in the student's locker/backpack each week on Friday.

If you would like to sign up for this program, click the link below. If you would rather sign up by completing a paper form you can print a paper form and return it to school.

Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of food will be included?

Each food bag will contain food for 1 child. Items will vary each week but will include breakfast items, canned fruit, canned vegetables, and main meal items. The items will be shelf-stable, which means they do not need to be frozen or refrigerated.

Where does the food come from?

We are working with Second Harvest and the local food shelf to be able to purchase quality items at a low cost. We may also get donations from individuals or other organizations in the future.

Who is paying for this program?

RRC applied for grant money to start this program. In the future we will be looking for community donations to help continue it and expland it to more students.

Who is organizing the food program?

We will be working with community volunteers that organize and pack the food into bags. School staff will distribute the food to the students. The names of the students that are participating in the weekend food program are not shared with community members to help protect your privacy.

Who will get our information?

It will be kept confidential. Only the school staff will have the list of students that are receiving food.

These photos show some of our food storage areas and the equipment we were able to purchase with the grant money from Second Harvest. We are grateful to have an organzied space where items are stored until they are packed up for students!
