Term dates for Year 7* are:- Autumn Term: Tuesday 3rd September 2024 – Friday 20th December 2024 (Half term: 28th October - 1st November)
- Spring Term: Monday 6th January 2025 – Friday 4th April 2025 (Half term: 17th - 21st February)
- Summer Term: Tuesday 22nd April 2025 – Tuesday 22nd July 2025 (Half term: 26th May - 30th May)

RoScA - The Romsey School Parent Teacher Association
Introduction
Welcome to The Romsey School, and for those of you with students higher up the school, welcome back to Year 7! Below is a bit of information about our PTA, the Romsey School Parent Teacher Association. It is very unusual for a Secondary School to have a PTA but we believe it is important in many ways to support our children, the teachers and parents and to have a bit of fun along the way!
Fundraising
Below is a summary of some of the things we do:
We serve refreshments at school events, including at the annual school production summer arts celebration evening.
We also had a Christmas Market style stall outside The Abbey during the school's Carol Service, serving hot chocolate, mulled wine and hot dogs.
Our Quiz evenings have become an annual event and this fun filled evening is attended by both parents and staff. We hope to hold another Quiz this year if possible - details to follow.
The Romsey School Lottery is another of our fundraisers. For one payment of £20 you will be allocated a number and one number will be drawn each month. Half the money is returned in prizes and half is used by ROSCA for extras / subsidies for pupils. Benefits
All money raised is used within the school to benefit as many pupils as possible. Each year we receive bids from Departments in the school and hold a meeting to discuss them. Last year we agreed to spend over £4,300 and this was spent within as many Departments as possible.
This included:
£550 for a phonics package for Literacy
£571 for African drums for the Music Department
£540 for programmable cranes for the ICT and CS Department
£630 for 8 new Microscopes for the Science Department
£620 for extra equipment for DT Department
£282 for sensory equipment for the SEN Department
£300 for equipment for BTEC Construction
£340 towards forest school kit for the ASD Base
Saute pans for the Food Tech Department
10 x desk top easels for the Art Department

Careers Information, Education & Guidance
Although your son or daughter are only about to join us at The Romsey School, we work with all our pupils to prepare them for their future, whether that is likely to be in Further Education, Vocational Training or in Employment with Training. Throughout their time in school pupils experience a range of activities which are designed to introduce them to the world of work and help them understand their future options.
Activities take place with each year group which have been chosen to reflect the stage they are at in considering their plans. Additional information relating to careers and working life is also covered as part of the curriculum in many subject areas.
The Romsey School has a fully qualified and experienced Careers Adviser/Careers Leader - Miss Jane Phillipps who is on site (Monday-Thursday). At times when pupils are making decisions she is able to offer 1:1 guidance and to meet both pupils and parents for appointments outside normal school hours if this is more convenient. Our aims are:
To ensure that every pupil leaves The Romsey School having planned and being confident in their next step.
That every pupil makes their choices based on informed decisions.
That every pupil develops an awareness of their individual skills and talents and aspires to get results that reflect their full potential.
We regularly need help with Careers related activities – either from parents prepared to discuss their own professions or just to help informally on some of our off-timetable days.
