Welcome to your Parent Teacher Association

RoScA is The Romsey School Association - your Parent Teacher Association.  Every Romsey School parent or carer and staff member is automatically a member. We are a committee of parents and staff who organise fund-raising activities to raise money for our school.  Being part of RoScA is very rewarding and provides a fantastic opportunity to meet other parents and support school and pupil initiatives and improvements.

All money raised is used within the school to benefit our children.

In addition to our fundraising, we aim to provide a platform to enable regular exchange of views between parents and the school.

Our main fundraiser is helping at the Romsey Show, where volunteers have free entry to the show for a timed slot helping on the gates, with catering, parking, etc.

We run a ‘Romsey School Lottery’ with regular draws.

We currently subsidise:

  • The Year 7 trip to Avon Tyrrell, a wonderful outdoor experience which allows Year 7 children to get to know their new class mates and tutor.
  • The Year 11 Yearbook, a treasured record of memories of their time here at The Romsey School.
Each year, departments within the school are invited to submit bids for the funds raised during the year.  In May 2019 we agreed to spend over £4,800!  This included Compact Digital cameras, equipment to teach ceramics and desk top easels for the Art Department; over £800 of fieldwork equipment for the Geography Department; equipment for the Science Department; 3 table tennis tables for the PE Department; branded banners for the music stands for the Music Department and Smart Parent Software.
We have committed to fund a 3 year licence for this software. It is part of RealSmart, an online product that will help provide the school with enhanced online features that will improve communication with pupils, parents and between staff. RoScA has agreed to fund the parental communication side of this product.  This will allow parents to check on their child's attendance, view their home learning and will generate a weekly summary informing parents of upcoming deadlines, equipment they might need for particular lessons (such as food and PE) as well as allow parents to see their child's timetable and achievement points.
This is a whole school improvement item.

We organise refreshments and popcorn at the School productions and events.

Each year, we organise a Quiz evening for parents and staff. Our next Quiz night is booked for Thursday 16th November in the school hall.

We hold regular evening committee meetings with staff and pupil representatives and "Hot Topic" discussion evenings which are led by the senior management team. As your Parent Voice we would like to hear from you if you feel there are any topics which you would like us to organise a Hot Topic evening to discuss.

We are always looking for new members/helpers and joining the PTA is a great way of meeting other parents, especially now that we no longer meet at the school gate.

It is very unusual for a Secondary School to have a PTA but we believe it is important in many different ways: to support our children, the teachers and parents....and to have a bit of fun along the way!
