Two Trojans  Sign NLIs

Gavin Chillot and Chris Walsh continued the proud tradition of continuing their academic and baseball careers by signing NLIs in November. Chillot, a right handed pitcher and infielder, will attend the University of Pittsburgh next fall to compete in the ACC. His classmate, Chris Walsh, will take his skill set to West Branch, New Jersey, and play infield for the Hawks of Monmouth University. Monmouth will move to the Colonial Athletic Conference next season. We wish both young men the best of luck.

Brinkman Commits to Bloomsburg

Senior Alex Brinkman has decided to continue his academic and baseball career at Bloomsburg University. The Huskies compete in the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) and enter this season as two-time defending champions. Brinkman is a returning All-League selection and displayed his versatility by playing third base, first base and the outfield for the Trojans last season. Alex is also a starting defensive end on the NP football team which will compete for the PIAA District 2 4A title Friday night. The North Pocono Baseball program wishes Alex all the best in the upcoming season and his future destination.

Trojan Seniors Decide on Baseball Futures

Three North Pocono Seniors decided on their academic and baseball futures with a signing held at the North Pocono HS Library. Jake Millan, a first baseman/pitcher, inked his NLI with Florida Atlantic University. Casey and Kyle Serine also celebrated their intentions to attend Penn State DuBois and Penn State Harrisburg, respectively. Casey, pitcher/infielder, will play for DuBois Coach Tim Calliari and his twin brother, Kyle, will also compete in the Penn State University Athletic Conference joining former North Pocono player Kyle Bosley in Harrisburg. The North Pocono Baseball Program wishes all three young men the best in the upcoming season and their future endeavors.

North Pocono announces All-Decade team

With the decade winding down taking a quick look at what was a very successful run for North Pocono Baseball seemed appropriate. The most efficient and effective way to measure the accomplishments of the North Pocono program was a survey determining an All-Decade team. Nominees were listed from this decade at each position. Players needed to play at least half a season's games in that position to be eligible. Current players (2020 team) needed to earn at least honorable mention All-League status to be eligible. Fifty-five ballots were sent to those who are most familiar with the program, including parents, coaches, opposing coaches, media members, teachers and administrators. The results are as follows:

First Base: Caleb Hicks '10 (63% of the vote)  Jake Millan '21 finished second.

Second Base: Joey Runco '12 (47% of the vote) Ryan Deom '19 and Justin Haddix '12 finished within a vote of one another for second place.

Third Base: Billy Nelson '13 (70% of the vote) Joe Kaspar '12 finished second.

Shortstop: Joey Runco '12 (45% of the vote) Ryan Deom '19 and Pat Kravitz '17 finished within a vote of one another for second place.

Catcher: Jake Mastillo '19 (55% of the vote)  Matt Fisch '16 finished second.

Outfield: JP Walsh '16 (84% of the vote)  Randy Darrow '14 (56%)  Ray Grapsy IV '12 (48%)   Sean Haddock '16 was the next highest outfielder at 16%.

DH: Nate McLain '18 with 19 votes edged TJ Melliand '10 who finished with 15.

Starting Pitchers: Billy Nelson '13 garnered 61% of the votes and Ryan Deom '19 earned the second starting pitcher spot edging Cory Wall '18 by a single vote.

Relief Pitcher: Cory Wall '18 (40% of the vote) Tyler Fisch '15 finished second.

Fight On!

Millan commits to Florida Atlantic

Senior first baseman and left handed pitcher Jake Millan has decided to continue his academic and baseball career at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. Jake has started every game for the Trojans since his freshman year and helped lead the team to back to back district title games, including a trip to the state quarterfinals in 2018. Jake hopes to add to his already impressive resume this upcoming season before playing for the Owls who participate in Conference USA.

Runco elected to Fordham Hall of Fame

Joe Runco, North Pocono class of 2012, was recently unanimously selected to be part of this year's Fordham University Athletic Hall of Fame class. Runco completed his career at the Bronx-school as the all time hits leader, an impressive feat considering the program has been in existence for over a century. While at North Pocono, Runco used his speed and skill to lead the Trojans to their first district two baseball title in 2012. Joey was recently married to Samantha (also a NP '12 grad) and is completing dental school at the University of Pittsburgh. Congratulations Joe!
