Activities for Students

How are you? The social work team has been thinking a LOT about you over the summer. We've been wondering what you're doing, how you're feeling, what feels hard, and what feels exciting to you about continuing with Distance Learning. Why have we been thinking about you so much? Because that's what social workers do! We wonder about all the things that make up your social life.

Some of you probably know Ms. Tasha. Some of you have never even heard of social work before; and we are excited to introduce some new staff to the Social Work Department. Laura Sanchez Garcia, will be the social worker for Prek-2nd grade; and we have Makayala, Annie, and Katelyn joining us as social work interns.

Here are some things that school social workers do: we talk to kids about how their day is going, we connect families to resources for meals and safe places to stay, we help solution find with kids and families when things feel hard, we celebrate with kids when things are going well, we play games, and so much more.

Now that we are doing online learning things will feel different but we want to be there for you. If things are feeling hard, we want to know that. If your family needs support with meals or technology or a safe place to stay, we want to know that. If you just feel like talking to someone, we want to know that! We want to know how you are so that we can offer support to you and your family the same way we would at school.
