Will the school be cleaned everyday?

NEECA and Heybridge

  • We have fantastic cleaners and site team in our school who have been super flexible in ensuring our school is clean for our children.

  • Site staff and cleaners will be working across the day to ensure that communal surfaces, toilets and doors are cleaned throughout the day, classrooms will also be cleaned at the end of the day.

  • In classrooms, staff will be equipped to clean surfaces used at intervals and equipment will be wiped down and exchanged daily so that they can be cleaned between uses.

  • If a classbase needs to be cleaned during the school day, the POD will relocate in another classbase or other room temporarily until the necessary surfaces have been disinfected. If no room is available the hall or outside must be used. Socila distancing measures must be observed throughout.

Endeavour

  • The school will be cleaned every morning, by the site staff and cleaners.

  • At the end of each day staff in classrooms will clean surfaces and wipe down equipment, ready for the following day.

  • On Monday's the classrooms that are used from Tuesday - Friday will undergo a 'deep clean', on Tuesday's the classroom used by children of key workers will undergo a 'deep clean'.

  • Pupils and staff will wash and sanitise their hands each time the enter the classroom.

What happens if there is a suspected case of coronavirus whilst onsite?

At all of our schools

If anyone becomes unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature, they should immediately be referred to the Head and a nominated first-aider. they must be sent home and advised to follow the COVID-19: guidance for households with possible coronavirus infection guidance issued by the government.

All staff and students who are attending an education or childcare setting will have access to a test if they display symptoms of coronavirus, and are encouraged to get tested if necessary and inline with the guidance. The school will not be in a position to apply for test on behalf of a student, staff member or anyone in their household.

For pupils -

They will be immediately isolated in the designated First Aid/Isolation room. This should be behind a closed door, depending on the age of the child and with appropriate adult supervision if required. Ideally, a window should be opened for ventilation. If it is not possible to isolate them, move them to an area which is at least 2 metres away from other people.

If they need to go to the bathroom while waiting to be collected, they should use a separate bathroom if possible. The bathroom should be cleaned and disinfected using standard cleaning products before being used by anyone else.

PPE should be worn by staff caring for the child while they await collection if a distance of 2 metres cannot be maintained (such as for a very young child or a child with complex needs).

In an emergency, call 999 if they are seriously ill or injured or their life is at risk. Do not visit the GP, pharmacy, urgent care centre or a hospital.

Where the nominated first-aid person is unavailable, staff act in line with the Infection Control Policy and ensure that any unwell pupils are moved to a quieter area of the school, away from others, and are supervised at all times.

If a member of staff has helped someone who was unwell with a new, continuous cough or a high temperature, they do not need to go home unless they develop symptoms themselves. They should wash their hands thoroughly for 20 seconds after any contact with someone who is unwell. Cleaning the affected area with normal household disinfectant after someone with symptoms has left will reduce the risk of passing the infection on to other people. See the COVID-19: cleaning of non-healthcare settings guidance.

For Staff -

Staff will be instructed to go home (if safe to do so) and must self-isolate for 7 days and will apply to be tested immediately. Staff will instruct the trust of the results of this test as soon as they can.

Will the school provide protective equipment?

NEECA, Heybridge & Endeavour

  • Wearing a face covering or face mask in schools or other education settings is not recommended by the government. It is also not recommended for students to use it as they will have difficulty not touching the mask and therefore potentially spreading infection.

  • In certain instances a mask and protective equipment may be used by staff to undertake first aid or intimate care. Guidance on how to put on and remove PPE can be found on the government website by clicking here or by clicking on the image at the bottom of this page.

  • Government advice to schools dictates that any homemade non- disposable face coverings that staff or students, young people or other learners are wearing when they arrive at their setting must be removed by the wearer and placed into a plastic bag that the wearer has brought with them in order to take it home. The wearer must then clean their hands’.
