Tech Tools
The online courses offered in the Hawaii Online Courses (HOC) program are delivered in a learning management system called Canvas. The program also uses a variety of tech tools to support student engagement, learning, and assessment. Many of them are connected with Canvas for a smooth student experience.
Parent / Guardian Consent of Tech Tools
Beginning with the 2023-2024 session, the parent / guardian signed consent for (1) their child's use of the various tech tools in the course, and the (2) Student Publication Audio/Video Release form is required for enrollment in an HOC course. These signed permissions are collected and kept on file by the brick-and-mortar school for HOC school year courses.
Privacy & Security
The HOC program takes great care to protect your child's privacy in the use of the tech tools. Provided below is a list of these tools for your review. Students access many of these tools through their online course via login to the course learning management system. This provides an added layer of security and privacy.
