INDEPENDENCE HIGH SCHOOL DRESS CODE

“DRESS FOR SUCCESS”

SHIRT AND BLOUSES

· Must have sleeves

· Must cover the torso on the front, back, and sides

· Length must cover midriff

· Cleavage must be covered

· No undergarments may show

· All clothing must be in compliance with the dress code even if it is covered by a sweater/jacket

PANTS, JEANS, SHORTS

· Must be worn at the waist

· No undergarments may show including basketball shorts used as undergarments

· Belts must be worn at the waist, not drooping

· Shorts must be of appropriate length

DRESSES AND SKIRTS

· Dresses and skirts must be of appropriate length

· Cleavage must be covered

· No undergarments may show

HATS

· Cannot contain anything profane, obscene, sexual, gang affiliated, or criminal in nature

BACKPACKS

· All backpacks must be in clean, original condition (No writing on backpacks)

THE FOLLOWING ITEMS ARE NOT ALLOWED:

· Any item that is excessively tight, see-through, or fishnet material

· Any item having holes, rips, or tears that show skin in inappropriate areas

· Any item containing anything profane, obscene, sexual or indicating gang or criminal association

· Any item with Old English script, tagging-style writing, or any other image indicating gang association

· Any item with alcohol, drug, or weapons references

· Spiked jewelry, chains that hang below the pocket, extremely long un-looped belts

· Pajamas, house slippers, bare feet, or bandanas

*If clothing disrupts the educational process and is NOT listed above, or if clothing is identified by law enforcement as promoting unlawful activities, the Administration of Independence High School reserves the right to decide what is deemed appropriate.

CAMISAS Y BLUSAS

· Deben tener mangas

· Deben cubrir el torso en el pecho, la espalda y los lados

· Deben cubrir el estómago y no ser mas larga que el mediado de los bolsillos

· El escote debe ser cubierta

· No se puede mostrar la ropa interior

PANTALONES, JEANS, Y SHORTS

· Deben llevarse en la cintura

· No están permitidos caídos o excesivamente apretados

· No se puede mostrar la ropa interior, incluso shorts de baloncesto

· Hay que usar el cinturón en la cintura, no caído

· Shorts (pantalones cortos) deben extenderse a las puntas de los dedos cuando el brazo esta colgando hacia abajo

VESTIDOS Y FALDAS

· Deben extenderse a las puntas de los dedos cuando el brazo esta colgando hacia abajo

· El escote debe ser cubierta

· No se puede mostrar la ropa interior

SOMBREROS Y GORRAS

· Ningún artículo que tenga algo profano, indecente, o que indique asociación con pandillas o gangas

MOCHILAS

· Todas deben ser en su condición original, limpias, y sin escritura personal o grafiti

LOS SIGUENTES ARTÍCULOS NO ESTÁN PERMITIDOS:

· Ningún artículo hecho de Spandex, material excesivamente apretado, material claro/visible o material “fishnet”

· Ningún artículo con agujeros, rasgaduras o roturas que permitan ver el cuerpo en forma inapropriada

· Ningún artículo que tenga algo profano, indecente, o que indique asociación con pandillas o gangas

· Ningún artículo de escritura tipo Olde English, “tagging”, o cualquier imagen que indique asociación a pandillas

· Ningún artículo con referencias o que anuncie alcohol, drogas o armas

· Joyas con picos; cadenas que cuelguen por debajo de los bolsillos

· Pulseras “rave” o “beaded”

· No pijamas, zapatillas de casa o pantuflas, bandanas

*Si la ropa disturbe el ambiente educacional y no está en esta lista, o si la ropa es indentifcada por las autoridades como promoción de actividades ilegales, Independence High School reserva el derecho de decidir cuales artículos son apropriados.
