Watch Me Read

Your child will bring home three books each Monday to read three times each. Research shows that the more times your child reads, the more fluent and confident they will become. We will participate in the Pizza Hut Bookit Program.

Monday - Practice reading the book while tracking the print with your finger with your child. Good readers look at the pictures first and then read the words.

Tuesday - Reread the book. Let your child echo read the book. You read a page and the your child reads the same page, tracking the print.

Wednesday - Have your child choral read with you. Continue to track the print. Ask your child to name the characters and setting.

Thursday - Read the books choosing how you want to practice. Continue to track the print.

Friday - Remember to handle with care and return all of the books on Friday. Complete and return the reading chart. Students are rewarded when six books are read three times each and initialed.
