Parents

Mrs. Miller and I are so excited to have your child in our class. We look forward to lots of funny and exciting moments. We can't wait to see your child grow and learn. Being a teacher is the most rewarding job in the world. I can't wait to see all of the children blossom!!

Parents, YOU are your child's first and best teacher. I can teach your child all day long, but ultimately your child learns the best from you. So, I encourage you to enjoy it now because they grow up so fast. These early school years are so important for children. I encourage you to read and read and read with them and to them. Make reading fun for both of you, and the more time you spend with your child the better. When you read with your child, ask him/her questions about the story. Ask him/her what might happen next. Ask him/her to find some popcorn words in the story. Let your child help you sound out a word by saying each letter sound in a word. You can make reading a book such an awesome learning experience.

Also, encourage your child to write. Don't tell your child how to spell every word. Let him/her streeeeeeetch out those letter sounds to figure it out. If your child spells house, hs, that is great and praise him for it!! That is the beginning of writing.

Lastly, feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns that you may have. You may email me, send a note in your child's folder, or call me. I will be more than happy to answer what I can. Our goal is the same; to help your child succeed in school and every day life.
